Our local library had some serious rain damage to the roof and needs some quick repairs. I hope the city repairs the roof before mold starts growing.

The ceiling in the children's room of the NorthEast library is collapsing. The initial damaged happened approximately a month ago and the recent rains on 7/4/2011 and 7/8/2011 have exacerbated the situation. In fact, it seems the library has lost several bookshelves worth of books and will continue to receive damage until the roof is repaired. I've posted some pictures of the ceiling here:

Worst of all, the smell of mold has started to pervade the entire children's room and I fear it will become hazardous to the health of the children.

This weekend we intended to go camping. What really happened is that I set up the tent under a waterfall; at least it seemed like it. Heavy, heavy rain and thunder all night. Half an inch of rain from midnight to 5am. Crazy. Good thing our gear was waterproof and the tent was new.

Oh Man, what an exciting weekend. This album starts with a few shots of Colin's new wound - got it at a birthday party with six year olds swinging mini-golf clubs. Then we jump to May day and a visit from the Volpe kids to have a sleep over and to watch the Kentucky Derby. Finally we finish in Philadelphia at the "Please Touch" museum where we rendezvous with Ellen as well as Patty, Dan and their kids. Overall good times.

The family took a trip to London to see Stephanie and Jeremy and new addition Holden. Had a great time going to show Colin knights and castles. Adam settled for planes, trains, and buses. Weather worked out pretty well and hopefully the kids will remember this trip. Just a small scare toward the end of the trip with a missing backpack, but the nice Heathrow Express police came to the rescue. Definitely one of our more exciting Memorial Days.

Karen's a capella group sang the anthems at last week's NBA game - the Washington Wizards v. Toronto Raptors (had to sing Canadian anthem too!). The game was sold out, but most people were not in their seats yet for the anthems. It was still fun, though!

With Adam's new found powers of walking, his world is so much more exciting. Events included going to the National Air and Space museum visits from family, baseball games, and a grand re-opening of our local library.

Once again, our local 4th of July Parade down 8th street is lead off by our Marines. This year, there seemed to be more parade marchers than parade watchers. Also, Colin is much more aware of candy this year. It was a challenge keeping him from becoming a human sugar bomb.

So we got an average of 7 inches of rain that flooded the garage of my work building. Many cars floated away and were seriously damaged. Then they brought in some serious vaccuum trucks in to help clear the water out.

We went out to CO in early July for Karen Woolf's wedding (in CO Springs). We also saw the gang in Ft. Collins, Darcy and her family in Denver, and Joe McGirr and family in Col Springs. We stayed at the Broadmoor (the wedding location)!

Our recent trip to London for Steph and Jeremy's wedding. We spent a few days sightseeing and whatnot in addition to wedding events. London was super fun, but very very expensive!

Colin and I took a trip down to the Mall to see what's new. While we were down there running around, we dropped into the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. Colin especially liked the planet exhibit because they looked like giant ballons.

Colin and I took a visit to the National Building Museum. It was a snowy Sunday and I didn't want to keep him cooped up in the house. He was very impressed with the fountain, and all the other kids running around.

Today we got about 3 or 4 inches of snow (despite that the weathermen said we'd get a foot of snow). I make a sled out of a plastic tub and off we went!

We all went up to Boston to see Colin's Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin. Christmas was fun and we got a bunch of snow. Most of the Christmas morning pictures were taken on a real film camera, so they aren't available here. But all the sledding pictures are here! We spent a week up there and had a great time.
